Intro to Vulva Care

To wash or not to wash. That is the question 🤔 and one of the biggest controversies when it comes to taking care of your down there. So let’s get into it.

Wash your vulva. Not your vagina. Do we often call our whole situation the vagina? Yes. And we’re 100% here for whatever you want to call your kitty cat 😻 But technically speaking, the vulva is everything but the hole. That hole is your vagina and she is an independent self cleaning machine so you don’t ever have to worry about her. We’ll let our friends at Planned Parenthood help explain the difference in the video below 👇🏼

Now back to washing 🧼

Here are things we don’t want to wash our vulvas with.

✨ Perfumed Soaps

✨ Shampoo

✨ Gels

✨ Anything with preservatives

Bodies aren’t a one size fits all so if you do use any of these and don’t experience any irritation or side effects then 👏🏼 Use what works for you! But generally speaking, perfumed soaps & preservatives throw off your ph and can cause irritation or dryness which we do not love for your downstairs. So use plain soap and warm water or a vulva wash - our favorites are 👇🏼

The All Body Wash is a great, easy option since it’s literally for all of your body. Gentle enough for your vulva & PH balancing, it’s perfect for people who don’t like having too many products in their shower routine. The Refreshing Cleanser I love because it’s so creamy, doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry and you can even use it on your face 🧖🏼‍♀️

Remember, your vulva isn’t a flower. It’s not meant to smell like roses, but you do want to pay attention to any bad smells that might be accompanied with yellow-ish or odd colored discharge as that might be a sign of a infection 🙅🏼‍♀️

If you struggle with BV, dryness or ingrowns, stay tuned for next week when we get into oils for your vulva that just might change your life completely 😉
